Dr Alistair Abbott

Dr Alistair Abbott has more than 14 years’ experience in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine with diverse clinical interests.

He graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2003 and completed his speciality respiratory training at Royal North Shore and Concord Hospitals.

He was employed as a Staff Specialist at Nepean Hospital between 2012 and 2021 working in a busy general respiratory department with a focus on airways disease, bronchiectasis and lung cancer. In 2020 he moved to St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney to join the Lung Transplantation and Thoracic Medicine department as a Senior Staff Specialist where he specialises in advanced lung disease and pre- and post-transplant care.

He is a skilled interventionist and performs bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound and balloon dilatation at St Vincent’s.

 

Dr Abbott has held positions as Network Director of Physician’s Training Nepean Hospital, Clinical Lecturer University of Sydney, NSW/ACT Branch President of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand. He is currently a local examiner for the RACP clinical exam.
 

Dr Abbott practices patient-centered care and has extensive expertise in airways disease,

sleep medicine, pulmonary nodules and lung cancer, chronic cough, advanced lung diseases, lung transplant and diagnostic interventions.
